AI trends that people are *actually* using on social
& what they tell us about what people really want from AI
Welcome to the first premium edition of #ForYou!
Our goal with this new offering is to, of course, help you be an expert at digital strategy [personal, brand, creator, business], but also help you be the 👏 smartest 👏 person 👏 in the conference room.
As I mentioned yesterday, we’re making this shift to invest in additional resources to bring you and our amazing clients even more expertise. That is, the content you know and love that ensures you’re grounded in digital strategy foundations, armed with insight into what others are doing, and able to be culturally relevant / emergent in your approach. All of that, plus thought pieces and hot takes by me and many of our friends and colleagues across the industry, and everyone’s favorite 💎Cultural Gems💎!
We’re kicking off today with the first in a 6-part series on the topic we all can’t stop talking about: AI. It’s already been a huge disruptor but it feels to me like we only hear about it from business people and so-called thought leaders. There’s a lot to learn from the everyday people who use it and what that might mean for the future of content creation. I’m excited to go down this rabbit hole and uncover more ways to best use AI to make our work even better.
We’ve updated our About page with some information on what to expect [free vs. paid], when to expect it, and a little more about our team.
Enjoy the preview and please consider subscribing. We’ll be back in your inbox on Tuesday with a little preview of what the paid Cultural Gems offering will look like, and continue to see you on Thursdays with the free edition.
Don’t hesitate to reach out with your thoughts, requests, or just to say hi, at hello@mtdecoagency.com. Also drop us a note there if you cannot pay for the subscription and we will get it you comped.
Excited to go on this journey together!
xo,
how people are utilizing AI on social media
By Megan E. Collins, Cultural Anthropologist
It’s a truth universally acknowledged that AI has been a huge disruptor to the tech space. While we’re on record that AI is NOT replacing creativity, there’s no denying it will fundamentally change how we live and work. We’re already seeing it across industries, with PWC’s Emerging Technology Survey finding that 73% of U.S. companies have already adopted AI in at least some areas of their business.
A lot of that adoption has to do with things like improving efficiencies and automating tasks, but in the digital strategy space, a lot of people are jumping to conclusions and assuming AI is going to eventually be the source of all the content we consume. Is that really the case?
It’s true that AI is going to fundamentally shake up content, and therefore the entertainment landscape at large. In fact, a recent Influencer Marketing Hub Report found that 44% of professionals surveyed have used AI for content production. And you may have heard Nina Schick (adviser, speaker, and AI thought leader) make the incredibly bold prediction that 90% of online content will be generated by AI by 2025. It’s a baseless hot take, but it’s still making the rounds in clickbait headlines.
Many of the people making these bold statements aren’t considering how everyday people are using AI, and the ways that their current appetite for it might inform future use, so that’s what we’re diving into today. What follows is four current trends and what you should take away from them, which is mainly that AI is still emergent and will be for some time.
